Noncommutative Coverings of Quantum Tori

We introduce a framework for coverings of noncommutative spaces. Moreover, we study noncommutative coverings of irrational quantum tori and characterize all such coverings that are connected in a reasonable sense.

This paper is a brief account of the moduli of complex curves from the perspective of noncommutative geometry. We focus on problems of Riemann surface theory, which can be settled using K-groups of a noncommutative C∗-algebra. On this way, we prove “generic” arithmeticity of the mapping class group and study correspondences between complex and noncommutative tori.

Thin coverings are a method of constructing graded-simple modules from simple (ungraded) modules. After a general discussion, we classify the thin coverings of (quasifinite) simple modules over associative algebras graded by finite abelian groups. The classification uses the representation theory of cyclotomic quantum tori. We close with an application to representations of multiloop Lie algebras.
